The reason a tree grows, is ultimately, to give. Here at Nova we hope to create a space where we as a community can do just that. Through art, we can push the bounds of creativity, learning various ways to express ourselves freely. Share experiences that have transformed our minds. A space which enriches us spiritually, without judgement or limitations. Our vision is to create a ripple effect in these vital areas of life. Expanding. Creating. Growing. Giving.
"I sit before flowers
hoping they will train me in
of opening up"
Hey ya'll, it's Michelle. Mostly bound to Long Island (represent), I've split my time between here, North Carolina, and Florida. Each has left me with a flavor unique to my cerebral palette.
New York mobs the psyche, goosebumps with all its electricity
North Carolina is all Smoky Mountains, the hickory is dense with refuge and dialogue heard between breaths;
Florida, a swampland sticky with time-lapse and lightening.
I'm an obsessive reader and Rowling, Plath, Diaz, Whitman, and so many others moonlight as my head council.
Literature for me is headspinning, and I devour it.
I write poetry on the daily, in my mind and in my writers journal, something invaluable to my editing process, which is in a constant state of chewing and spitting itself out.
I graduated from Cuny Hunter with a BA in English Lit-Creative Writing this past summer, editing poetry for The Olive Tree Review all the while. I've been attending and helped to run creative workshops for the past five years.
I hope to spread the healing nature of Art in its many forms here at Nova. It is such a blessing to be a part of this. Well, here we are! Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. Thanks for giving this a read.

Kristi is an eccentric fusion of psych, science and art. She is a blend of trained expertise through a fun but grueling Master's program, neurobehavioral certifications, and a license in mental health counseling. She then has the personal experience, mindful intuition, and playful spirit to connect to the complexities of her clients. Not one of us is one thing, all the time. We have many parts. It is her mission to awaken each to then challenge, empower and enlighten them. Kristi will work with your limitations and enhance your resourceful strengths. Blur the lines of your existence. With compassion, openness, spontaneity, and gentle humor (unless you can go less gentle!) she and you can get through just about anything. Kristi is ecstatic to be healing with the Nova Sanctuary team; an expansion for her own professional and personal journey.
"Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralyzed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds' wings." - Jalaluddin Rumi
Hello family my name is Alexis. I am honored to be a part of the Nova family. My roots are here on Long Island where I was raised. I enjoy traveling to learn about myself and all that we are surrounded by. I began my yoga journey three years ago when I took on my first intensive yoga teacher training. My life changed from that point on. I came across yoga in search of finding myself. For many years I researched and practiced different religions and belief systems in hopes to connect to the source. What I learned in yoga is that we are that source, it resides in us all. Yoga is the union of the body, mind and spirit after all. I understood this idea from my first training. From that point on I was on a mission to dig deeper within myself to know my truths and understand my purpose. The universe showed those truths to me during my second teacher training while living on an Ashram in Hawaii, surrounded by a community of yogis and spiritual teachers. We took on a very disciplined practice greeting each sunrise and sunset, chanting and meditating each day. These important rituals became some of the most transformative practices I've yet to encountered in my life. I learned the power of self and spirit and the connection between us all. I am filled with gratitude everyday for the lessons I have learned and the wisdom I have gained from my journey. I am forever a student. I am also a teacher. I teach because I believe in you all. I know that within each one of us is a fire yearning to be fueled. Self love is so important for our growth. I truly know now the power of self love and self fulfillment. We are beautiful beings of light and we have so much potential it is my job and my mission to remind us all of that very message. We have the ability to create our reality and have all that we desire. Once we go within our heart and honor our true authentic selves for all of the beauty and power we hold. I am here to teach us all the importance of breath, movement, and devotion to self. I honor all of your lights. Love is the key. Namaste!
"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be." - Patanjali
As we heal on an individual level, we heal as a collective. I am here for you, as I am you and you are I. One by one we heal, rising!
Hello there, I am Marie Duca, a healer, light worker, health coach and yogi here at the Nova Sancutary. I am here on a mission to create a safe space where you can move, heal, grow and self-explore. What has led me on this mission? I have had my fair share of struggles. Depression, anxiety, insomnia and abuse plagued me since childhood. As I started healing myself as an adult I had one last bump in the road, an autoimmune disease called Lyme, which led to other health conditions in my gut. My journey had been filled with so much darkness, which I am now grateful for, as I have learned to transmute that into light, Alchemy! Now I am here on this earth to be a guide for others.
I believe that our real work and transformation is through the inward journey. As far as my “healing” credentials go, I am a Reiki practitioner attuned in Reiki I & II. I am an aerial silks instructor where I trained with the best in NYC at the AntiGravity Lab. I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as a certified Health Coach. Last but not least, I am a 200Hr certified yoga instructor where I studied in Guatemala among volcanoes, learning the shamanic medicine wheel on the land where Mayan heritage is still rich and prideful. Not to mention a decade of studying personal development, spiritual philosophy, meditation, and time living on an ashram learning the ancient Indian medicine of Ayurveda.
I am an enthusiast of art, astrology, dance, movement, tarot, aerial silks, traveling, sacred songs, chanting, ancient rituals, nature, numerology, self-introspection, community, connection, the sun moon and stars. For those who can relate to the rough times, stay the course. Brighter days are on the horizon. Sending love and light your way.
Green smoothie lover, health food junkie, yogi, creator, wanderer, avid traveler, pizza connoisseur. I prefer deep, intellectual conversations over small talk. I love the outdoors, feeling the sun on my face and the ground beneath me. Good food makes me heart smile.
I was introduced to yoga through a college course and immediately felt the physical benefits but I knew there was something more. The mental benefits is what keeps me coming back to my mat. I want to give to others what yoga has given me; learning how to deal with adversity, depression and the ups and downs of life. I received my 200 hour teacher training through Yoga Alliance from Revolution Yoga in Rockville Centre. It has been life changing to say the least. I'm so excited and honored to be teaching in this wonderful space, The Nova Sanctuary.
Healing is unique.
The journey of healing seems vastly different for each person who steps on their own unique healing path. One size does not fit all.
As far back as my mind can remember, I have always known that I was
on this Earth to ‘help’ people-- I just did not know the capacity this help would exist within. So, I decided to go to school for Social Work in 2009 to become a therapist.
My spiritual awakening blasted off in 2011 with my acknowledgement and understanding of my gifts as an empath
(a highly sensitive person to energy), and fine-tuning my psychic abilities, all to benefit myself and others. I immersed myself through spiritual training's and workshops, and applied the knowledge I picked up and connected this to my gifts. I studied and practiced various healing modalities including shamanic journeying and manifestation.
I have been healing people emotionally and mentally as a licensed master Social Worker in the state of New York since 2015, working specifically with people struggling with addiction and mental health. I have been healing physically as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician since 2015. I have been healing energetically as a Usui Reiki Master since 2014, and I have been spiritually instructing groups of beautiful souls; teaching various skills and tools that provide healing to themselves and to others.
As a healer, my life's journey is to walk with you and shed light onto your own unique pathway towards the healing that you desire. My hope is through sharing with you the tools I have picked up along my own journey, from both practical and spiritual worlds, you will find your toolbox filling with valuable self-healing assistants.
Sasha the Seer
Beautiful and blind, Sasha is a constant reminder that we do not need our sight to exist in a physical world. We simply need to sense and feel. Her presence will fill your heart with joy and warmth. Sasha the Seer is open to hugs, cuddles and lots of love!
